Bringing back (for today, anyway) a two-fer Tuesday…

A realtor-friend offers these two tips as the most common advice she gives her clients before listing their homes for sale:

Clean It Up!
1. Thoroughly clean the house.
2. Clean it again.
3. Repeat steps 1 & 2. Use Q-tips, if necessary.

You wouldn’t think you’d have to tell people to clean up their homes to sell them, but I was amazed at the condition of some of the homes I looked at when I was in the market.

Light it up!
Clean and open all curtains and blinds. Turn on all light fixtures. Put in a few higher wattage bulbs. Following these tips will make rooms look bigger.

I’m not sure how I feel about that from an ecological standpoint, but I suppose it wouldn’t hurt too much for the short term. Also, revisiting the first tip would be highly advisable if you’re going to have that much light on the rooms.
